Job Description:
As an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA), the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation and maintenance of the Oracle database solution for our retail client. Leveraging expertise in database management and retail industry knowledge, the candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless operation and optimization of the database system, supporting critical business functions and driving innovation in the retail sector.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand the specific database requirements and objectives of the retail client.
- Design, deploy, and configure Oracle database solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of the retail organization, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Implement data migration strategies to transfer existing data to the new Oracle database platform, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Optimize database performance through monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting activities, addressing performance bottlenecks and ensuring optimal system responsiveness.
- Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical retail data and minimize downtime in case of system failures or data loss incidents.
- Implement security measures and access controls to protect sensitive retail data from unauthorized access, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with retail stakeholders to support data analytics initiatives, providing insights and recommendations based on database performance and trends.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure continuity of operations for the retail client.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in database management, recommending innovative solutions to enhance system functionality and efficiency in the retail sector.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with a focus on retail sector projects.
- Strong expertise in Oracle database administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Experience with retail-specific database solutions and technologies, such as POS integration, inventory management, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming languages for database development and scripting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions in a retail environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with retail stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a remote work setting.
